In December 2010 we informed you of the case of Christian woman, Asia Bibi, facing the death penalty in Pakistan after being accused and convicted of blasphemy. In March we asked you again to take action in relation to the response of Pakistan authorities to the assassination of Minister for Minorities, Shahbaz Bhatti, who was the only Christian Minister in the Government of Pakistan and who was campaigning against the blasphemy laws.

Shahbaz Taseer was kidnapped on 26 August in Pakistan. He is the son of Salman Taseer, who was the governor of Punjab, but who was assassinated on 4 January in response to his opposition to the blasphemy laws in Pakistan.
