We have previously highlighted the on-going attacks against Christians in Iraq. Unfortunately, these attacks continue. On 2 August, 15 people were wounded when a car bomb was detonated outside the Holy Family Syriac Orthodox Church in Kirkuk. On Monday 15 August a bomb exploded outside Saint Ephrem’s Syrian Orthodox Church in Al Ummal Square, Kirkuk, causing major damage. Fortunately no one was hurt.

The previous night four bombs were detonated inside Saint Afram Syriac Orthodox Churchin Kirkuk. Again no one was hurt.
Bombs have also been found and disarmed outside of Saint Giwargis Church of the East and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in the Almass district of Kirkuk.
This is only happening because we are Christians. Maybe the people responsible want to empty the city of Christians. Please pray for us. Pray for peace and stability. We are afraid. – Kirkuk Archbishop Louis Sako
