Attack on church in Indonesia foiled

On Good Friday an attempt to bomb a Catholic church, the Christ Cathedral at Serpong, West Jakarta, was foiled. Five bombs containing 150 kg of explosives were discovered buried alongside a gas pipeline next to the cathedral to intensify the destructive effect. Police arrested 19 men believed to be involved in planning the attack. Indonesian police deployed 20,000 officers to protect churches and search for bombs over the Easter period.
