Make your $2 work for a better world! Take the $2 A Day Pledge this Anti-Poverty Week!

$2 is less than most of us spend on a cup of coffee, yet that’s what more than 2 billion people around the world must survive on every day.
By taking the $2 A Day Pledge for two weeks from October 17 (the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty) and choosing Fairtrade, you will be helping to actively reduce poverty by investing in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Changes to the Migration Regulations that would mean fairer access to work rights and greater support for asylum seekers while their application is being processed were tabled in Parliament on the 18th of August. These were welcomed by asylum seeker support organisations and groups who have campaigned for many years for the abolishment of the unfair restrictions on work rights and healthcare for asylum seekers (in particular the 45 day rule that prohibits work rights and healthcare for anyone who seeks asylum after 45 days of being in Australia).
However, the changes are now under threat with the Opposition indicating that they will disallow the regulations when Parliament meets next Monday the 7th of September. Take action now and write or email to let the Senators know that you support the positive changes to the Migration Regulations.
