Student Loans Add Up!

According to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, the Commonwealth is owed an estimated $16.1 billion in higher education student loans in 2007-08 (a 12 per cent increase on the amount owed in the previous year).  The Department estimated that about $3.4 billion of it would not be repaid.
